This process is constantly evolving through the seasons with different art processes to prepare the collected botanical specimens for closer observation before transforming them into new visual compositions.

Collage Reimagined reflects an evolving practice that challenges conventional definitions of photography, positioning the photographic image not as an end point but as the beginning of a process of transformation.

Photography beyond documentation

Photography has long been understood as a means of recording the world. In Collage Reimagined, Clare Newton extends the medium beyond documentation, using the camera and digital post-production as creative tools for constructing entirely new visual realities.

Drawing together botanical forms, fragments of graffiti and layered photographic elements, each work is carefully assembled rather than captured. Urban marks, organic forms and traces of place are brought into dialogue, revealing unexpected relationships between the natural and the constructed.
